Splasherino!

Splasherino allows two players to take on the role of captains of a ship pitted against each other on dark and stormy seas. Firing cannons and maneuvering the turbulent seas, the captains must find a way to sink the other ship before they are sunk themselves, or form a truce and simply enjoy sailing the waves.
Splasherino uses simple sine wave math and the principles of buoyancy to create a delightful and captivating experience where players interact with our virtual seascape and each other. Players can dive their ships into the waves, throwing their ships into the air over obstacles, players and any dangers in their path. This simple movement system combined with the unique and beautiful aesthetic of the visuals provides an attractive and engaging experience for those watching, and those who play.
Splasherino was completed in 48 hours during a Global Game Jam in Toronto at George Brown College. As game developers, we were tasked to create a game that represented a given theme of “waves”. While “waves” is open to many interpretations (hand waving, sound waves, ocean waves and etc.), we decided on attempting to create an enjoyable experience surrounding ocean waves.
